I made this Tu-Tu for Memphis. At first she did not want anything to do with it. Kristi some how talked her into wearing it and now she loves it. :) What a cute cute girl!

April 28, 2009

I feel like today's picture needs a little background info. Last week I ate Crown Burger for lunch and the picture below was my claim number.

I was excited because in High School I had a friend- Elizabeth Shafer. For the life of me I cant remember the significance of 333 to her, but it was her number. So last week at lunch, it made me think of her and smile. Today I was BEYOND out of gas and pulled in to get gas, when I went to reset the milage my picture is what I saw. Really? Twice in one week??? I have got Elizabeth on the brain. Good thing she is coming to Utah in like 2 weeks. I am really looking forward to seeing her! Huh, come to think of it... it's EXACTLY two years since I last saw her.

PS:Happy Birthday Memi!

April 27, 2009

Well I was going to go to bed but Memphis can now open doors and keeps coming down stairs. The joys of a toddler bed, right?? Late naps can sometimes backfire in a major way!

Memphis LOVES drawing on Grandma's table, carpet, my desk calendar and her coloring books. She a LEFTY... she gets that from Grandpa Smith. She is very seriously when writing. Sometimes she will even put a phone in the crook of her neck while writing. This girl is a regular crack up. She turns two tomorrow! My baby is turning two!

So anyone who really knows me, KNOWS I have a little tiny addiction to Dr Pepper. I sent Mike out to get me a drink because it was necessary. :) Chase likes to "taste" my drink when ever possible.

He was caught in action... or was he????

April 22, 2009

Today I took allergy meds and I think they knocked me out. I came home and slept. Problem with that is I was not tired at 11, so I had me a little snack while I watched the RW/RR Duel. I like cheese and reality TV... a lot!

April 21, 2009

Mike took the kids to the park on Tuesday. I like this picture. I love how you can see Uncle Chase helping. Memphis is becoming a lot more brave as far as playgrounds go. She loves going on walks and just being outside in general.

In case you were wondering I am LOVED... by my sandwich makers! (take that subway) Elise and I got lunch on Friday at Leger's. French Dip was the special, so going there twice this week was a must! Lately... I crave french dip!

If you are in the area... treat yourself!

These will forever remind of Jen. She craved them while she was pregnant with Carter, however they were a rare find, so she would have to go to a certain gas station to get them and they were small bags. I naturally sampled them one day, not thinking I would like jalapeno. I was so very wrong. These things are so tasty. So when I saw them at wal-mart I was excited---except I didn't buy any and now I am just kicking myself.

April 14, 2009

Today we moved Damien into the crib (we FINALLY get to use his bedding) and Memphis is officially in the toddler bed. She was a BIG helper to Daddy... just ask Mike! Ha ha ha! She was kinda freaking out when it was time to actually lay down and go to sleep. She threw her body over the small railing and smashed her head into my nose. Doesn't feel good. After leaving in pain I left her in the bed to cry, it didn't take long-she's out. I just went in to cover her up and she is in her "stink bug" position. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Needless to say we didn't make it to the pool.

April 10, 2009

Seriously? Colored Chicks! I thought it was pretty cool!I think I dig the blue ones most.

This was at the Clark County, NV fair. Mostly I just loved baby goats and desperate carnies. Ok, maybe just the goats. I have such FOND memories from the mish spent on Kathy's goat farm. She even named goats after me, some of my companions and even a district leader.

Easter is a comin'

Last weekend I was working on the kids baskets. They wont remember, but there will be pictures to help them remember, right? It's fun. So naturally I HAD to get Easter candy--only THIS candy is for Mommy and Daddy. The kids eggs will be filled with goldfish, cheerios. fruit snacks--you know, the good stuff!

My favorite candy-

Peanut M & M's
Resses Miniatures (has to be the minis-makes the ratio of chocolate to PB perfect)
Kisses with Almonds
Snickers (my dad's favorite... it's tradition*)

*growing up Grandpa Straw ALWAYS had a snickers bar in the freezer. He would cut it up into little bite size pieces for easy eating or maybe sharing. My dad carried on the tradition, only snickers got smarter and started making the mini bites. Makes it EASY peasy to freeze, eat AND share. Happy Easter Dad, these Snickers are just for you!!!!

I also got Robin Egg's, not because I like them but because I can turn my lips blue with them. Don't worry Mike loves them-I can assure you they will not go to waste!

April 7, 2009

It's Baseball Season! Whoooooooooo hooooooooooo! I am a D-backs fan all the way. Mike is a White Sox fan and thinks by buying the kids white sox shirts they too are fans. I say, give them time-they will pick the correct baseball team to cheer for.

April 6, 2009

So the truth is... Memphis gets her hair done every day, but usually not until 4:00 pm-when I get home from work. She is so good at sitting still and letting me do it-as long as her toothbrush is in hand. Mostly i think she just eats the toothpaste, but it works. She has some natural curl and it's very easy to make her piggies curl under, but Uncle Chase wanted some pictures before I curled them. We had a good laugh, and she likes the attention. Such a funny girl!

Sister Amy Skousen came home today! I talk to Jen earlier this week and she was sad she was missing it. When I got to the airport, I saw Carter and asked, "how is Carter here"?? Karen started laughing and told me Jen, in true Jen fashion, last minuet decided to come up. Yea!!!!! She got married and now lives in AZ. So even though she is here for Amy--- what a treat for me!

How is it possible that someone born in 1988 is old enough to drink? It's moments like this where I start to feel OLD!

Million Dollar Drink

It's no secret Cafe Rio is one of my favorite places to eat. We go there at least once a week. I think it's annoying that some of them charge for the kids quesadilla and some don't. My biggest frustration would have to be the new larger drinks. They do not offer both sizes, they just automatically give you the big drink at $1.70 a cup. RIP OFF!!!!!! I just sound so silly, but it just totally annoys! That being said... it doesn't bother me THAT much, cause you know I'll go again next week!

PS: I really like the way this picture turned out.

This is pretty much what you would see at my house all last week. I honestly can not remember the last time I was this sick. I missed two days of work, and functioned just enough to get through the other three days.

March 24, 2009

Most people don't know that Memphis was diagnosed with an eye condition called Duane syndrome. Today she had another check up. She has one more until she will just go yearly. She did so good. She usually hates it, but she didn't even cry! Mike actually took her today because I have been really sick since yesterday afternoon. I even took the day off work. Nothing like taking a whole week off for vacation and then having a take a day and a half off for being so sick. The good news is I am starting to feel better.

March 23, 2009

Unpacking. Yuck! Memphis added her cabbage patch doll to my suit case... I guess it made a good bed at the moment.

March 22, 2009

We stayed at a hotel right by the airport and had to return our super cool rental car. We were really worried about finding car that would fit all our luggage and the double stroller. Everything fit great. If you need to rent a car I highly suggest renting through priceline "name your own price". We saved 100's of dollars!

March 21, 2009

What a sad day... today we left beautiful Nauvoo. This is the house we stayed in all week. If you are planning a vacation out there I highly suggest Nauvoo Vactions. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I hope to go back again someday.

Today Mike and I got to do a session. What a special place. It's hard not to reflect on the faith and scarifies of the early saints. I love that the temple was rebuilt to match the original building plans.

Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo

If you are going to Nauvoo, you must see this show. This delightful musical comedy, performed by senior missionaries, tells the story of many Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo near the time of the Exodus.

I loved it so much... I went twice! :)

March 18, 2009

On this day we got up early (the only day we did such things) and headed out to Carthage Jail. This is the window that Joseph Smith fell out of, after he was shot.

March 17, 2009

It was a special day here in Nauvoo. It was on this day in 1842 that the Relief Society was formed. You can read more about that here- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relief_Society We were on our Joseph Smith tour while the women were all meeting at the Red Brick Store to reenact the event... I think it would have been really cool to be there for that, but it was only the missionaries who got to be there.

Today's picture is a bronze statue of Joseph Smith in front of one of the many fun gift shops. This is not the infamous Red Brick Store.

We will call this day: A Day of Pointing

We ventured out and checked out more of Chicago.

This is Memphis at the Shedd Aquarium.

It is under major construction right now, so what we saw was very limited.

Despite that... Memphis seemed to really enjoy her self running around and pointing at all the fish. I was going through all the pictures and seriously... she is pointing in every single one of them. Funny Girl!!!!

March 13, 2009

So I didn't know which picture to pick for today. We arrived in Chicago and finally made it to our hotel. TGI Fridays to attached to our hotel so we walked down to get some grub. It was so good. I love when you are so hungry and it makes the food taste THAT good. Hopefully I will do a full post soon. (at our regular blog). We are here safe and ready to crash. Good Night!
